vulkan implementation for my very dead game
hi people.
well not gonna announce anything new about this game, just a fun experiment by me.
I tried dxvk, a DirectX to Vulkan transitional layer that translate DirectX games to Vulkan, and it's quite helpful for playing DirectX-only games on Linux using Wine (well, DX is a piece of proprietary technology by Microsoft).
My earlier builds used DirectX 9 instead of latest ones which are OpenGL 2/3.x. So it would be a good thing to test on. It ran with the same performance as the original config with poor framerate. But see how lovely your decades-old styled graphics tech demo uses Vulkan which is a recent graphics lib for rendering, like a true resurrection.
Well, just a simple try without actual change. I realised my gameplay demo has quite changed since development start. But anyways, I'm still a newcomer to those like this and sound not being well (yet). So I hanged this project simply, for seeking newer and better inspiration and motivation. Look at this as a trivial gateway to game development.
well that's all for now. a fair dinkum yet weird decision to write a dev blog. So I think I would stop at here.
G'day people. Happy 2024! bye.
